What is Bogotás Open Museum - MAB

¿What is Bogotás Open Museum - MAB ("You Are Here")?

MAB is a proposal and opportunity created by the Bogotá Mayor's Office to promote plastic and visual arts through the enthusiastic participation of Bogotá residents. The entire process, from conception, execution and public exhibition of artistic actions and artworks, takes place on the streets or in public spaces.

MAB is a museum open to the insertion, at any time and from any of Bogotá's twenty localities, of individual and collective narratives expressed and placed in community in the public space through the plastic and visual arts.Together we use them to build our territories and environments.

Beyond the streets...

MAB aims to socially and culturally transform Bogotá's environments by becoming a catalyst for the knowledge, attitudes, emotions and practices of citizens in public space. This is in addition to the destigmatisation of the practice of street art in a city that recognizes and values the plastic and visual arts that are practiced responsibly in public space. At the same time, it provides different perspectives and looks at the city, generating spaces for discussion, debate and collective construction of what we understand about public space, art and democracy. Thus, MAB seeks to build social fabric by strengthening the links of citizen and artistic communities around the creation, appreciation of public art and appropriation of the territory.

“You are here” is the possibility for every citizen and collective to engage in artistic and democratic dialogue with their environment through the plastic and visual arts. “You are here” invites everyone to recognize and contribute through artistic actions that make art in the public space their own, and part of their daily life.
