Localities: Usaquén y Suba El color de las raíces (The color of roots)- Agrupación Raíces Western side This urban art proposal seeks to highlight the richness and diversity of our territory, by emphasizing ancestry and tradition as a fundamental axis of our identity. The final artwork is the result of the theoretical/practical co-creation laboratories with the community living in the Mazurén neighborhood and its residential complexes. The workshops were aimed at recovering intergenerational knowledge, including the identification, planting, uses, care and harvesting of aromatic and medicinal plants, as part of a joint process with food sovereignty and security. This process represents collective ideas that seek to highlight characteristics of our environment and the richness of our territory, using colors to capture the beauty of our flora and fauna. This initiative provides inhabitants and passersby a different and pleasant scenario, creating a perception of a safer and more welcoming environment. Héroes en carrozas (Heroes on floats) - UMS Crew Eastern side ‘I am Shelter’ is the result of the experience lived together with Norma, Felix the cat, Pomponio and twelve other recyclers who inspired us. They showed us that a bridge can serve as a shelter, a carriage, a home and even transform garbage into treasure through their work and life stories. Talking, listening and sharing were the starting points to inspire us, leading us to build together the proposal that would be the result of the artwork in the Under Bridge Zone. This project is divided into three stages: learn, create, and transform. In the first stage, two workshops were held in which the recyclers shared their knowledge with us, while we passed on our knowledge of art. During the second stage, we designed an informative printed piece using the knowledge discussed in the workshops to share with the community. This material explains proper waste separation in a simple manner. In the last stage, we invited the recyclers to apply the artistic knowledge they acquired in the second workshop, enabling them to decorate their floats with color. The recycling industry faces different problems, including discrimination against their trade by the resident community of the neighborhood. For this reason, we decided to make an additional piece of artwork in one of the recycling collection centers, enhancing the visual appearance of the place. As a result of each of the stages, we were able to transform the experiences into words, colors and images, resulting in the creation of the artwork. We looked for several options of phrases that would reflect the experiences lived in the project and could be captured in the mural. With the help of the recyclers, we chose the phrase 'I am Shelter', which is accompanied by two characters that symbolically represent the sustenance, shelter and well-being of a family that contributes to environmental conservation through their work.
